Helen is a teacher of Life

Denise Le

I knew Helen for only a short period of time, yet within that brief time, Helen inspired my life significantly. Through her beautiful examples, she taught me lessons most crucial to life.

Helen taught me Faith. Even when she discovered she had cancer, she accepted faithfully, trusting that God knew what was best for her and that He would give her the strength and the grace necessary to get through the tough battle ahead. She submitted fully to God’s will, and never once did her faith falter, even in the midst of severe pain and suffering.

Helen showed me Hope. She was not afraid to die as she had great hope in seeing the Lord. Her trust was placed fully in Him while she waited patiently to meet Him in Heaven.

Helen encouraged me with her Love. She selflessly gave of herself to others by teaching and sharing her faith to many throughout her life. Even when she was suffering terribly from the cancer, she continued to teach and dedicate her time to one of her Godsons whom was very dear to her. Her love and deep devotion to her husband was a wonderful inspiration to many.

Helen lived her life in a way that God wants us all to live. She reminds us that in the end, "faith, hope, love remain, these three, but the greatest of these is love" (1Corinthians 13:13). Helen’s love and devotion to God, to her husband, and to the people around her is a true example of perfect love. Her life of joy and also of pain and suffering shows us that, truly, love "bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things" (1Corinthians 13:7).

I am truly blessed to have known Helen. Her abundant joy and peace despite pain and suffering is a lesson forever imprinted in my heart. Her life of tremendous faith, hope, and love is one I will deeply cherish and will never forget.
