Words of Thanks

In Memorial Service of Helen

Michael Yeung

I want to say a few words of thanks on behalf of Helen’s husband, Roque, and her family.

We are so thankful today, for the Lord had put Helen - such a wonderful person - in our lives.

Six years ago when Helen was diagnosed with cancer, we all prayed for her cure and recovery.  However, God did not give that to her.  Instead He gave her the strength to face it; He gave her the courage to accept it; and most of all, He gave her the peace so that other people could see how a child of God could be so graceful even at the most trying time of her life.

For all these we give thanks to the Lord.

Mother Teresa once said, “We cannot do great things in our lives, we can only do little things with great love.”

Helen was an excellent example of this.  She spent time with children, reading to them about the love of the Bible, teaching school children with her comical stories, and showing compassion to friends who were down.  One thing really stood out in Helen was the big smile on her face.  Any one who ever met her just can never forget that big wonderful smile always greeting you.  With her, you just feel you are always welcome.  For her these were just little things, but these were the things that made her such a lovable human being.

Helen has enriched our lives.  There was this special spark in her that even in her most difficult years she still carried on her smiles and going about her daily life with peace and serenity.  She was a great friend – her memory will always have a special place in our heart.

For all these we give thanks to the Lord.

Finally, we want to thank you for coming today.  Many of you come from out of town and even from the States.  We also want to say special thanks to Fr. Leung in preparing this House of God for the service.

Thank you all,

And God bless,
