I had the privilege of knowing Helen Ip from the early 80’s especially when she was a teacher in St. Mary’s Canossian College. She always impressed me by her cheerfulness, generosity and loving personality. I felt that the students were very blessed having such a person as Helen as their teacher and model. I am sure that they trusted in her as a friend and that she greatly influenced their lives by her loving care and concern. Her strong faith seemed to be so natural and attractive. We began a program of reflection for the teachers in the Catholic Schools called “Dialogue on Teaching as a Service. “She was one of the first teachers who volunteered to be a presenter of this program of reflection on experience. Her reflections, which she shared, were very rich in value and meaning because of her deep faith and sincerity. As we pass through life’s journey we meet people whose lives touch ours making us better people. They are gifts of God to us. Helen was certainly a precious gift of God to all with whom she lived and shared her life in loving service. With her unselfish love, sacrifice and dedication; with her inner strength, joy and peace she now enjoys the rich reward of eternal happiness . She continues to show her loving care by praying for us until we meet again. “Fold her, O Jesus, in Your arms and let her henceforth be a messenger of love between our human hearts and Thee.”
